Graphic Arts 10 – 12

Take your first step into the world of graphic design! Through hands-on activities, the instructor leads students in learning industry standard software like Adobe Illustrator as students develop current technical skills. This course focuses on learning how to draw in 2D on the computer and illustrate digital graphics for screen and print. Students will develop concept art and produce professional renderings. This course also focuses on Adobe InDesign; industry standard software in publishing.

Students taking this course have a great opportunity to produce several designs including:

  • Book cover design  
  • Contemporary graphic and typographic logos 
  • Modern Infographics 
  • Community poster projects 
  • Movie and Show posters 
  • Create a brand’s identity 
  • Design principles – Alignment, contrast, repetition, proximity 
  • Colour Theory 
  • Print design – flyers, postcards, exhibition guides, and advertisements
  • Typography 
  • Magazine design for print and web – covers, ads, article layouts, graphic elements 

Prior experience with a pen tablet and drawing is recommended.
