This is a brand new course at Spectrum that will examine the origins/development of the term ‘genocide’. This examination will include looking at the different conditions that exist in genocide, as well as the characteristics & stages. Some examples of the acts of mass violence/atrocities that we will specifically study would include: the Holocaust, the Balkan region, & various African nations (present-day events would also be addressed). International law & enforcement, including the role of the United Nations will be studied & critiqued.
