This is a course that will examine the origins/development of the term ‘genocide’. This examination will include looking at the different conditions that exist in genocide, including characteristics and stages.  We will spend a significant amount of time studying The Holocaust, as well as both the Bosnian and Rwandan Genocides. Students will also have the opportunity to independently look at other 20th/21st century events. Other topics that will be covered include: international law, the role of the U.N., remembrance, and current conditions around the world.
