Athletic Leadership 9 & 10

Students must apply to be accepted into this course which is designed to allow like-minded students the opportunity to expel interests in a range of athletic pursuits. The course runs in conjunction with PE 9/10 for a double block of timeStudents will be given the opportunity to learn and demonstrate leadership skills in many situations, such as scorekeeping, managing tournaments, refereeing, managing recreation for older adults and elementary students, managing recreation for local families, and supporting health in our school and communityThere is also the opportunity to participate in many outdoor pursuits away from the school, such as sailing, kayaking, disc golf, golfing, rock climbing, beach volleyball, skating, skiing or snowboarding, and martial arts; all of which emphasize working together as a team to achieve goalsStudents will participate in first aid training as wellThe program is best suited for students who have a strong interest in athletics, responsible, well-organized, and self-disciplinedApplicants will be concerned based on their application and reference, as well as in grade 10 a fitness evaluationThere are some costs to the program.
