To graduate in British Columbia, Grade 12 students are required to complete a Graduation Transition Plan (GTP). Students will explore various options for post-secondary education and employment and they are expected to keep a record of their findings. Students may wish to include details regarding their applications and acceptance(s) to colleges, private institutions, apprenticeships and universities.
During Grades 10, 11 and 12, students are expected to engage in a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer or paid work experience.
Also in Grade 11 and 12, students are expected to perform 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous physical activity. Evidence of both the work experience and the physical activity must be included in the Graduation Transition Plan. Evidence templates are available in the Career Resource Centre, from Planning 10 teachers, or on Spectrum’s website. Spectrum provides GTP seminars in English 12 or Communications 12 to assist students in completing this requirement.
Note: GTP will continue for the 2018/2019 year, changes will be made in future years.
