Suggested prerequisite: Middle school band or equivalent or permission of the Band Director, Mr. Jolliffe.
Band courses are a continuation of the acquisition of performance skills on woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Also included is a study of the basic elements of music and its history and literature, through performance and discussion. Regular home practice is required. This is a FULL YEAR course offered within the timetable. Students will take PE 9 & 10 opposite band.
Participation in the performing Junior Concert Band is part of the course (see below). Note: With permission of the instructor, students with no previous experience are welcome to enter the program at any junior grade level. Private lessons and/or summer band are recommended to ease the transition. Please contact the Band Instructor for details.
