This course will be designed to accomplish the following:
Canadian 20th & 21st Century History: This will take Canada through its development in the 20th century & into present-day. This is designed for students who did not participate in the ‘new’ Social Studies 10 curriculum. Some of the topics/units that would be covered would be: government, Canada & the Word Wars, the Cold War, Canadian identity, discrimination & human rights issues, & human geography
Project-Based learning centred around the expansion of relevant Canadian Social Studies topics.
Students would have the opportunity to explore in more depth different topics of their choice. Using the project/inquiry based learning model, students could look at the following topics/units: First Nations issues, French-English relations, Government and Politics, Social Policies, Canada and the US as well as Canada and Britain.
